Dear Members,

After some joyful time off during the holiday break we’re back to business to gather some great information happening across the industry. We wish you all a prosperous New Year and a good start!

But now, let’s get started right away with this week’s top stories.

When it comes to mobility, Going Green remains one of the top priorities for many countries, manufacturers and consumers. However, despite various subsidies and incentives implemented by governments across the globe the rise of electric vehicles has not been as great as expected, with many countries forecast to fall short of self-imposed targets for electric vehicles by 2020. In his article Colin Pawsey presents an overview of some of the incentives for electric vehicles.

Our survey to evaluate the potentials and challenges in the field of automotive smart data is still open! We ask you to take a look at 10 questions in this area which will only take you 3 minutes to answer them all! By participating you get the chance to win free tickets for our first Conference on Automotive Smart Data Analytics and Management in April.

In the lead up to the In-Engine Optimisation Conference next week in Frankfurt/Main we spoke to Speaker Prof. Chris Brace from the University of Bath about the challenges to experimental engines and the relationship between academia and the automotive industry.

And last but not least, our Tire Industry Monthly January came out on Monday and details the growing segmentation of the top tire market with a special focus on the Chinese market situation.

To all of you who were attending the Detroit Auto Show this week, we hope you’ve seen a ton of hot new production cars and concepts. We ourselves will be hosting an event in Detroit later this year featuring HMI cockpit solutions. But that’s stuff for another edition of our Newsletter!

So, welcome back in 2015. As always, we look forward to hearing your comments and thoughts. Have a great week!
