Optimization of the thermal system is a much more critical factor for battery electric vehicles than it used to be for the internal combustion engine vehicle; every ounce of energy that is used to either cool or heat the EV cabin requires more cell energy, not only adding cost but weight to the vehicle.

So how do we prevent thermal runaway? We need to know more on the materials used, the cell construction of the batteries and how to safeguard at entry level.

Automotive IQ interviews Sanket Kadam, Lead Engineer, Battery Safety Test & Development at Nikola Corporation, to learn more on these hot topics. Get your copy now to see what Sanket has to say ahead of the Thermal Management USA conference, where he will be part of a speaker panel.
