Stéphane Wojewoda - Expert Lean-Agile, Renault Group

UNDERSTAND WHAT AGILE MEANS, WHAT IS DRIVING THE AGILE WAY OF DEVELOPMENT & THE PROCESS REQUIRED TO CARRY IT OUT IN THE AUTOMOTIVE INDUSTRY

What is Agile? Many assume it’s as simple as completing a process quickly or working in sprints, but a wider understanding of Agile shows that it is a mindset, a way of living, an approach to help implement good practices for design thinking, customer centricity, continuous improvement, and increased efficiency to name a few. In automotive development, Agile has the potential to revolutionise day-to-day work, where development is fast-moving, and new features need to be implemented and delivered as soon as possible.

This presentation is delivered by an expert with a real understanding of Agile and the value it drives for the automotive organisation. Take a front row seat in the audience to:

  • Understand how the Agile mindset can be adapted from the software industry to best fit automotive and its practices.
  • Understand the instances in which Agile is and is not applicable, getting a true understanding of the potential benefits of Agile when applied correctly.
  • Understand the advantages of Scrum, XP, and KanBan, and where they are best applied.
  • Learn ways to analyse your own organisation to help find the best benefits and advantages for you.
  • Look at the mindset needed for the development cycle and how to achieve this in various organisational structures.
  • Gain insight into the future of Agile and its application in the automotive industry.

  • Understand where the willingness for Agile comes from – is it a top-down or bottom-up movement?
  • Best practices for convincing managers and businesses to move to an Agile strategy and culture, and how to change the mindset in the development cycle.
  • Overcoming the mindset challenges of traditional managers.
  • Explore how Agile is integrated top-down and what the intake is from developers and creators.

10:20 - 11:00 ORGANISATIONAL DESIGN & DEVELOPMENT - MOVE FROM ‘DOING AGILE’ TO ‘BEING AGILE’

Florian Rohde - Senior Manager, System Integration & Validation, Formerly at Tesla

UNDERSTAND HOW STRATEGIC ROLES & ENVIRONMENTS HAVE EVOLVED AT A LEADING OEM COMPANY TO DRIVE CHANGE & AGILITY

Some parts of the industry hold the view that is near impossible to change mindsets; what needs to be done instead is to create environments and approaches that allow us to integrate different mindsets and show a common approach to organisational behaviour and overall organisational design.

  • Find out how rigorous the implementation of the Agile Manifesto needs to be for a team and organisation to be considered Agile.
  • Understand what the required roles in an Agile project are, and how to maintain efficiency with additional team members.
  • Explore how the organisational structure is brought together when transitioning to an Agile framework.
  • Hear details on the strategic evolvement of roles and how they helped drive change in different levels of the organisation.

13:20 - 14:15 NETWORKING LUNCH BREAK

USE CASE PRESENTATIONS & DISCUSSIONS 1. AGILE METHODS IN R&D PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT & DESIGN PHASE 2. IMPLEMENTING AGILE IN SUPPLY CHAIN METHODS

14:15 - 14:55 AGILE METHODS IN R&D PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT & DESIGN PHASE: USE CASE PRESENTATION

Osman Selçuk Sarıoğlu - Organisation Transformation Leader, Transformation Team, Ford Otosan

MEET BUSINESS & CUSTOMER EXPECTATIONS WITH SPEED & AGILITY

The product planning phase is the backbone of vehicle development as the team conceives and agrees on the shared vision of what the product will be before going to market. The adoption of Agile practices can benefit this process by introducing a proper product development process, resulting in fewer delays in the production cycle. Finding the best speed to prepare and develop the product architecture is key for successful product development.

Listen to an expert use case on how Agile methods were applied in product development; hear successes and lessons learned to speed up the development process.

  • Find out how Agile practices can provide benefits from early product planning to R&D product design and development phases.
  • Explore how Agile they could have been versus how Agile they were in the process.
  • Delve into the importance of product architecture and structure for the successful implementation of Agile.

THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN CLASSIC & AGILE PROCESSES

Automotive SPICE, ISO26262 and other regulations aim to ensure high product quality by carefully controlling the product development and manufacturing process. A company that does not yet meet a required standard must adapt its process organization and/or its organizational structure, i.e. it must change. How an organizational change affects the employees concerned is a well-known part of change management. However, the processes themselves already have a psychological impact on the attitudes, feelings, behaviour and performance of employees, not just the change itself.

This presentation looks at the psychological impact of processes. In particular, the differences between classic and agile processes will be highlighted. This will result in recommendations for future change programs and target images.
