hile Generative AI promises to transform creative work, it is not clear how this will play out. Join this this talk, where three research projects exploring this issue will be introduced.

First, working with TRI collaborators at MIT’s Center for Collective Intelligence, directly comparing the designer’s ideation experience using image search versus different image generation technology.

Second, in TRI’s guided diffusion project, demonstrating how design style can be preserved in engineering-informed AI generation.

Third, in TRI’s design space organization project, showing how machine learning and market research can be brought together to empower wheel stylists to look for new solutions.

Closing with some ideas about the technical challenges and bottlenecks to widespread adoption of Generative AI technologies.
