FINAL DAY – THURSDAY 30th NOVEMBER 2023

CYBER SECURITY FOR SOFTWARE-DEFINED & CONNECTED VEHICLES eg. WHAT SECURITY MEANS IN THE WORLD OF SOFTWARE-DEFINED & CONNECTED VEHICLES, SOFTWARE-OVER-THE-AIR UPDATES FOR NEW NEXT-GENERATION SDV ARCHITECTURE, MECHANISMS TO PREVENT WRONG ACCESS TO THE CAR AND PASSENGER DATA: SECURITY FOR SOFTWARE-DEFINED VEHICLES

7:30 am - 8:45 am REGISTRATION & REFRESHMENTS

8:45 am - 8:50 am AUTOMOTIVE IQ WELCOME & INTRODUCTION

8:50 am - 9:00 am CHAIRPERSON’S OPENING REMARKS

9:00 am - 10:00 am WHAT DOES SECURITY MEAN IN THE WORLD OF SOFTWARE-DEFINED VEHICLES

PRESENTATION & PANEL DISCUSSION

  • What are the implications of the move towards software-defined vehicles on how drivers interact with their vehicles and the security of those vehicles?
  • Known threat vectors for SDVs. t How do you secure the building blocks/containers in the automotive world?
  • How is cyber security for SDVs defined by tech companies?
  • How will components be kept up-to-date through FOTA and SOTA updated?

10:00 am - 11:30 am SOFTWARE-OVER-THE-AIR UPDATES FOR NEW NEXT-GENERATION SDV ARCHITECTURE

PRESENTATION & PANEL DISCUSSION

This presentation looks at the area of Software-Over-The-Air updates including:

  • Mechanism to perform updates securely.
  • In the event the vehicle software has a bug, measures that will need to be taken to debug quickly, reliably and safely.
  • How legacy vehicle architectures will be impacted by this shift from HW to SW and if significant recalls would be needed to fix and flash new SOTA updates.

11:30 am - 12:30 pm MECHANISMS TO PREVENT WRONG ACCESS TO THE CAR AND PASSENGER DATA

PRESENTATION & PANEL DISCUSSION

While a software-defined vehicle has the possibility to bring in new functionalities and software parts, from an end-user perspective, first and foremost, the vehicle has to be safe and secure. This presentation focuses on decoding actual risks of SDVs and mechanisms to prevent harm.

  • How does security and privacy impact the design and use of these systems?
  • What is the best way to implement security preferences?
  • What happens if personal data collected without the passenger’s consent?
  • What mechanisms can be employed to prevent wrong access to the car?
