Wired cell contacting systems for battery control

Automotive IQ | 09/11/2023

A cell contacting system for battery control is an arrangement that facilitates electrical
connections with individual cells within a battery pack. It is commonly used in advanced battery
management systems (BMS) to monitor and control the performance, safety, and overall health
of each cell in a multi-cell battery pack.

The primary function of a cell contacting system is to establish reliable electrical connections
between the battery cells and the BMS circuitry. This allows the BMS to monitor various
parameters of each cell, such as voltage, temperature, and state of charge, and make
appropriate decisions regarding charging, discharging and overall battery management.
