Interview: How to achieve limited autonomous driving

Self-driving cars are coming. It's not so much a question of If so much as When. But as today's models are already packed with sensors and systems that do the driving for you, the "attentive driver" is still required. General Motors recently announced plans to roll out "Super Cruise" technology in an unnamed new Cadillac model within the next two years. This new technology can speed the car up, slow it down and keep it in its intended lane.

During the 8th annual conference on Steering Systems 2014, hosted in Dýsseldorf, Automotive IQ took the chance to interview Staff Researcher Jin-Woo Lee from General Motors. We spoke about the current challenges for limited autonomous driving features, the idea behind "Super Cruise" and how to achieve the ultimate goal of producing a self-driving car.
