5:20 PM BEV range increase by optimal combination of 800V e-machine and multispeed transmission

To cope with increasing customer demands on vehicle range and efficiency, Valeo and Valeo
Siemens eAutomotive Germany develop electrical drives from the beginning as a fully
integrated system. The presentation illustrates the newest seamless multispeed together with an
800V e-axle designed for SUV premium class vehicles. Emphasis is laid on the architecture and
technical advantages combining a multispeed transmission with an 800 V permanent magnet
machine and a SiC Inverter. Improvements in efficiency and resulting range increase on the WLTC
cycle are shown in detail. Throughout the work, a comparison with a single speed transmission and
a 400 V round wire machine illustrates decisive design factors and key enablers of the newly
developed e-axle for next generation BEV
