Augmented reality (AR) and artificial vision have recently been implemented in the design and production process. Whilst the technology is relatively new, AR has the potential to visualise and modify vehicle designs without the need for physical prototypes. New vision systems are also being introduced to provide real-time quality checks during mass production, reducing the need for physical labour and improving quality precision. Successful application of AR and vision systems will not only reduce expenditure on physical resources but also reduce lead time during the lengthy design phase of vehicle development..
