Dr Kirsten Matheus is an engineer and economist who has worked in the automotive industry since 2003. During her 16 years at BMW, she successfully introduced Ethernet as an in-vehicle networking technology, founded two industry consortia, the One Pair Ethernet Alliance (OPEN Alliance) and the Automotive SerDes Alliance (ASA), and published (together with her former colleagues Thomas Königseder and Michael Kaindl) two books ("Automotive Ethernet" and "Automotive High Speed Communication"). Since September 2025, BMW assigned her to the Association of the Car Industry in Germany (VDA), to represent digitalization topics especially in respect to data and automotive cyber security.
