What you will learn about in this webinar:

• Developing System Architecture and Performing Functional Safety Analysis

• Battery Management Systems Design and Validation

• Physical-Level Simulation for Accurate Insights on BMS and Battery Performance and Thermal Behavior under Different Usage Profiles

• Safety-certifiable Embedded Software Development and Validation

Transitioning to lower-carbon mobility with an electrified powertrain comes with an ever-growing demand for batteries and assured system performance. Several engineering challenges centered around the safety, reliability, and efficiency of the battery and battery management system (BMS) must be addressed. In passenger EVs, batteries must be powerful enough to control vehicle systems such as an electric motor, cabin climate, infotainment, and more.

By leveraging integrated, multidisciplinary engineering simulation tools for battery design and BMS, the optimal combination of safety, energy density, and battery life can be achieved. In this presentation, we will discuss how system architects, safety engineers, and software developers can collaborate, innovate, and optimize processes while meeting design requirements, industry standards, and safety regulations. Through the examples provided, you will learn how implementing a model-based systems engineering (MBSE) approach for software and system design enables you to:

• Systematically breakdown requirements as the design progresses

• Tightly integrate with functional safety analysis for the BMS

• Predict critical electrical and thermal behavior by open-loop and closed-loop simulation

• Develop control software that meets industry standards like AUTOSAR and is ISO 26262 compliant.
