Tobias Braun

Safety Engineer and Safety Validation Expert Fraunhofer IESE

Dr.-Ing. Tobias Braun studied Computer Science and received his Ph.D. from the University of Kaiserslautern in 2016. He worked till April 2017 as member of the “Networked Systems Group” of Prof. Dr. Gotzhein. For his Ph.D., he focused on the development of communication protocols for real time systems based on LIN, CAN, FlexRay and IEEE 802.15.4. Further aspects of his Ph.D. involved virtual prototyping and simulation of heterogeneous communication networks. Since 2017, he works as Safety Engineer and Safety Validation Expert in the Safety Engineering department of Fraunhofer IESE in Kaiserslautern. His current research interests involve the usage of simulations and virtual prototyping for safety validation and the tension field between safety and security. During his work at Fraunhofer IESE, he is involved in the development of safety concepts for different domains with focus on the automotive domain and safety validation.
