Automotive IQ’s latest offering, Global Vehicle Electrification 2021: Cost & Driving Range Optimization Series, has been designed to deliver a series of concise, efficient and interactive events in 2021, showcasing real application presentations, focusing on everything in the vehicle, from the Battery Pack, Powertrain, Advanced Materials and Thermal Management.

The Next-Generation Modular EV Platforms 2021, the fifth event in the series, will take place online on 6th & 7th April 2021, providing an important and efficient platform for accelerating vehicle electrification, focusing on ways to lower cost, increase driving range and revolutionise next-generation EV architecture in a way that reinvents the electric vehicle, ready to carry the future of e-mobility.

The industry has thus far operated by making incremental improvements in the traditional design of the EV. To fasten the emobility revolution, automakers are now looking beyond incremental improvements in the architecture of the vehicle.

State-of-the-art, cost-effective, modular EV platforms that allow for a completely integrated vehicle have the power to allow vehicle manufacturers to achieve better production costs and improved specifications in their vehicles. With a multitude of companies including VW, Hyundai, Renault, Kia, unveiling cutting-edge modular EV platforms,
is the future of EV’s modular?

Automotive IQ’s presents the Next-Generation Modular EV Platforms 2021conference, taking place online on 6th and 7th April as the industry’s first and only event focusing on this hot, new topic, with 10 solutions-rich presentations and discussions delivered over two days, by vehicle manufacturers and technology providers sharing practical, technical insight on how they that are revolutionizing electric mobility

9:00AM - 9:50AM EST - PLASAN CASE STUDY
NOVEL BODY-IN-WHITE ARCHITECTURE FOR COST-EFFECTIVE MASS-PRODUCTION OF COMPOSITE-INTENSIVE CAR BODY STRUCTURES

Plasan has developed an innovative new approach to Body-In-White design which is focused on mass-production and optimizing for cost. This architecture is driven by minimizing the cost added for each kg saved. This is achieved by concentrating the more expensive materials like carbon-fiber where they are working the hardest, and simplifying the shapes to manufacture them using the cost-effective pultrusion process.

This new BIW architecture has been developed to allow application of pultrusions for the main structure, crash absorbing areas, and load paths, while still letting the body be assembled on conventional lines with minimal disruption by maintaining a layered approach to vehicle assembly.

 Join
Nir Kahn, Director of Design, Plasan as he delivers a highly technical presentation on cutting-edge developments at the group.

10:40AM - 11:30AM EST - FARADAY FUTURE’S VARIABLE PLATFORM ARCHITECTURE (VPA)

Faraday Future’s vehicles are built on a highly scalable, flexible and reusable platform called the Variable Platform Architecture (VPA). VPA allows FF extremely optimized time to market for multiple vehicle models through component reuse in excess of 60%, significant cost savings for manufacturing and servicing capability. VPA is designed for both battery and powertrain scalability to support multiple vehicle classes, ranging from our premium crossover FF 91 to our proposed Last Mile Delivery vehicle.

VPA features our industry-leading proprietary and patented liquid-cooled battery pack system with the best demonstrated Energy Density (Wh/Kg) in the EV industry. It also features FF’s scalable drive units with the best demonstrated Power-to-Weight Ratio (kW/Kg) in the EV industry. VPA is a proven architecture that has been tested extensively on the road through the FF 91 pre-production test programs.

In his presentation, Faraday Future's Bob Kruse, Sr. Vice President of Product Engineering, provides in-depth technical insight into the VPA along with an overview of other technologies and the FF vehicle line-up that will be powered by VPA.
