Session Two: Control and efficiency of e-drives in automotive traction
The permanent magnet motor and induction machine are both used in automotive traction. But what about cost-price, lifetime and how are they controlled? On the long term, the induction machine tends to be more cost-effective. There is not so much difference between the two machines as you would expect in terms of controlling them. We will explore the basics of the embedded digital control methods and indicate the key components and their functions. In this session we will look at:
• What type of inverter is used and how is the internal current control of the motor?
• Is the permanent magnet motor more efficient than the induction machine and what is the price difference of the efficiency?
• Is there any difference between the control of an induction motor and a permanent magnet motor?

Session One: How is high resolution magnetic field camera technology being used for fast magnetic and topographic mapping of permanent magnet rotors?
An advanced solution for the measurement, inspection and quality control of permanent magnet rotors is needed to gain more knowledge of the impact of the magnets on the performance of the motor. Being able to visualize the magnetic fields in detail is crucial in gaining critical insights to achieve optimal rotor designs.
This session reveals:
• A stand-alone scanner using 3D Hall sensing technology used for fast and accurate measurements of the magnetic field distribution of permanent magnet rotors
