Kevin Baltes is “Director - Product Cybersecurity” for General Motors Company. He is responsible for leading the global team defining the strategies and security controls to mitigate automotive cybersecurity risks. His team manages the cybersecurity posture of the end-to-end connected vehicle ecosystem, including the electrical architecture, electronic control units, telematics, infotainment, telecom channels, vehicle-facing applications and services, and V2X. His team is also responsible for cybersecurity innovation, penetration testing, and university engagements.
Prior to this role, Kevin served as “Engineering Group Manager - Vehicle Cybersecurity”. During his time in this role, he led the development of the in-vehicle cybersecurity technical solution. Joining GM in 1995 as an Embedded Software Engineer, Kevin has held multiple roles in Product Cybersecurity, Powertrain Engineering, Electrical, IT, and R&D. Kevin holds a BSEE from the University of Dayton, and an MS from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. He is a Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) and has 16 US patents.
Kevin lives in Michigan with his wife. He enjoys live music and traveling.
