Prof. Maziar Nekovee

Prof. Maziar Nekovee is one of the world’s leading mobile communications experts, creating technology that has fundamentally changed the way that people, cars and other things communicate. Previous to joining academia in 2017, he was with Samsung, as Head of its European 5G research and collaborations and prior to that he was with BT Research. Maziar has significantly contributed to a number of industry standards in mobile communications and radio spectrum regulations in 3GPP, ETSI, CEPT, ITU and IETF. His current research focus is on 6G, 5G and AI with applications in energy, transport and manufacturing sectors. He is currently Dean of the AI Institute and Managing Director of 6G Lab at University of Sussex UK, and also leads a UK government funded Network Plus Consortium on "A green connected and prosperous Britain, an academia-industry partnership with a focus on drastically reducing Co2 emission by creating and interconnected communication, energy and transportation networks, which seamlessly and energy efficiently integrate and orchestrate electric vehicles in future smart grids.
