Cyber security continues to be a critical requirement in the automotive domain, presenting major challenges for automotive companies to secure internal and external interfaces. While ISO/SAE 21434 and R155/R156 is in place, and OEMs are building and implementing processes, technologies and policies to meet these requirements, there are numerous major ongoing challenges and several others that haven’t previously been experienced; further regulations for existing vehicles are coming into play in July 2024, technical compliance for 21434 and R155/R156 is challenging, SDVs are adding a new level of complexity, OEMs are struggling to define all required work products to get certifications for vehicles – this is just the tip of the iceberg. The automotive cyber security space is showing no signs of slowing down – it is only getting bigger and more challenging by the day.
