BRAKING PLENARY

11:20 AM PRESENTATION ON SYSTEM ARCHITECTURE FOR BRAKE-BY-WIRE

The braking industry is experiencing a real push to transition to brake-by-wire systems, and OEMs and suppliers are still discussing the direction to take for by-wire adoption. With most OEMs looking to introduce brake-by-wire technology into their vehicles by the end of the decade, the wider industry is looking to understand the real added value of the system for the customer and accelerate the adoption of by-wire technology.

Join this multi-stakeholder panel session as leading brake industry experts discuss what’s driving the transition to brake-by-wire systems, with the end goal of understanding the market direction for this technology.

·       Understand what an actual brake-by-wire architecture looks like.

·       Hear what type of standardization is needed when you have inputs from the driver to the brake system/interface between electrical safety and the pedal.

·       Understand the effect of the UN/ECE 13 will have on the brake system architecture if extended for higher performance.

Question & Answer Session

4:10 PM INTEGRATION OF REGENERATIVE BRAKING & FRICITION BRAKES

As companies accelerate the transition towards electrification, regenerative braking will play a major role. While the benefits of regenerative braking are being widely recognized, the industry is still unclear on the mechanics of regenerative braking and how it works.

·       Understand key differences when designing brakes for BEVs with friction brakers vs regen brakes.

·       Find out if regenerative braking going to be available all the time, and when it will not be available.

·       Find out how energy source is connected between electric motor and battery and where electricity is stored.

·       Assess transmission of electricity, efficiency of components and losses in that transmittal.
