James McLeish

Automotive Technical Expert & Senior Member of Technical Staff DfR Solutions - Southeast Michigan Automotive Office

Mr. McLeish heads the Michigan automotive office of DfR Solutions, a Failure Analysis/Lab Services, QRD consulting and CAE Software Development firm.  He holds a dual MSEE/ME degree in automotive controls systems and 3 patents in embedded control systems.  He is a senior member and Regional Director of the ASQ Reliability & Risk Division, a member of the SAE-Automotive E/E Reliability Standards and ISO-26262 Functional Safety Committees and the Automotive Electronic Council.  He has over 35 years of automotive and military E/E design engineering and product assurance experience that start by being a member of the team that invented the first Microprocessor Engine Controller at Chrysler in the 1970’s, then in advanced E/E system R&D and later vehicle system engineering at GM.  Eventually evolving into a Quality, Reliability, Durability Technical and Reliability Manager who is an author/coauthor of multiple GM and SAE standards.  He is credited with the introduction of Physics of Failure/ Reliability Physics methods to GM.
