Range Extension for HEVs Using Fuel Cells: Challenges and Viability
Hybrid Electric Vehicles typically combine a battery pack with a traditional internal combustion engine. Combining a fuel cell with a battery pack would allow hybrid electric vehicles to be driven with the range of a traditional car without the pollution of current HEVs. The refilling time would also be comparable to cars and hybrids with gasoline engines. Automotive IQ conducted a global survey to determine the viability of fuel cell technology to identify the main challenges and to determine if fuel cells are a viable solution.
