Falling carbon fibre (CF) prices with rising production capacity and increased recycled carbon fibre (rCF) waste availability from end-of-life of cars and aircraft (with 12,000 aircraft retiring in the next 20 years), has encouraged CF use in the automotive industry in lower price segment vehicles. This has also been encouraged by a need to reverse the trend to continual vehicle weight increases in the light of legislative pressures to reduce emissions and therefore weight.
